We’re pleased to inform you that the server migration has been completed. core.ionbytes.net is now running on a new piece of hardware co-located at Jaring Secure IDC, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We’re yet to get all of our IPs from Jaring so only ns1 is running on the new server whilst ns2 remains on the old ‘core’ until it is decomissioned come end of March. New ‘core’ specs are:

  • CPU: 4 x Intel Xeon X3210 (2.13GHz)
  • 8GB DDR2 RAM
  • WDC WD10EADS-00L5B1 SATAII (953869Mbytes @ 1Tb) – Primary Disk
  • WDC WD10EADS-00L5B1 SATAII (953869Mbytes @ 1Tb) – Backup
  • ns1.ionbytes.net – 202.190.85.78 (new NS)
  • ns2.ionbytes.net – 216.245.215.157 (old temp NS)

Current hosting prices will be revised, together with introductions reseller and/or student packages at a cheaper rate.  Should you have any problems, please contact us by creating a ticket at http://www.ionbytes.net/client.

IonBytes is currently doing a promotion for our shared webhosting packages; a 50% discount for the first 10 customers that registered using the promo code ‘ION.5TY‘ every month! That’s right,  that means if you’ve missed the promo for January, just register on 1st February and your bill would be 50% lesser than normal package pricings. Promo only valid for customers who pays annually only.

Network Issue

Our current upstream provider, InterNAP is currently experiencing network issues; which are causing packets to and from datacenters’ connected via InterNAP to be dropped intermittently. InterNAP is currently working on fixing the problem and we’ll post an update when it’s fixed and back to normal. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

UPDATE: We’ve been told by our DC that InterNAP network issue has been resolved. Should any of you are still experiancing problems connecting, send us a ticket and we’ll look into it.

For reasons yet to be pin point exactly, Yahoo!Mail mailservers are deferring all emails sent to Yahoo!Mail from our servers for a certain period of time; this caused delay in users getting their email if they’re using / sending emails to a Yahoo!Mail users. We’re trying our best to liase with Yahoo!Mail administrators and try to resolve this particular situation.

So far, the only solution we received from Yahoo!Mail are to just “wait” for our mailserver to resend those deferred emails; which, according to our standards isn’t an actual solution at all. Until this issue has been resolved, we strongly suggest IonBytes clients to use other email than Yahoo!Mail to communicate with us or you might not get those replies from us, thanks to Yahoo!Mail’s system.

Regards,
Hafez
